Pimpolina Clown

For more than 30 years Andrea has specialized in the comic genre, developing a subtle and refined style of humor that combines humor with poetry, since she considers the clown as a poetry maker. In her stage experience, theater and circus converge as a fundamental axis in her work as a clown. With her character "Pimpolina clown" she has toured the stages of the entire Mexican Republic, and has made international tours through Central America, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, the United States and France. She has worked with the Circo Atayde Hermanos in the Arena México and in the Astros tent.
In 1988 she participated in the 100 years of the Circo Atayde Hermanos at the Arena México, for 16,000 spectators per show. She has represented Mexico at international festivals such as: Festival del Circo del Mañana at the Circo de Invierno in Paris, Memphis in May in the USA, Children's Festival of Philadelphia, Off Festival in New York, Latin American Theater Festival in Argentina, Sor Juana Festival 2000 a tribute to Mexican Women in Chicago. She has presented her shows in the most prestigious theaters in México City, such as: the City Theater, Netzahualcóyotl Hall, Miguel Covarrubias Hall, Juan Ruíz de Alarcón Theater, El Galeón Theater, Orientation Theater, Julio Castillo Theater, Reforma Theater , Siqueiros Poliforum, Shakespeare Forum, Hellenic Theater, Sergio Magaña Theater, Rosario Castellanos Theater of Casa del Lago and Santa Catarina Theater, among others.

She has toured the Mexican Republic appearing in the most prominent theaters of the province such as the Juárez Theater of Guanajuato, Degollado Theater of Guadalajara, Theater of the City of Monterrey, Theater of the City of Zacatecas, etc. In 1990 Teatro y Danza de la UNAM produced her one-man show "STAND BY, scenic whim for an actress and a raw chicken", in which she integrates circus elements, pantomime, theater and dance. From 1995 to 2006 she is part of the catalog of shows for children of Alas y Raíces (CONACULTA), with her work LOS SUEÑOS DE PIMPOLINA. In 2007 she participated in the circus program "Los cinco magníficos", on Televisa, as a clown teacher (she directs Héctor Suárez, Adrián Uribe and Gloria Trevi). In 2008 she received the Performing Creators scholarship, in the discipline of Circus Arts, specialty in Art of the Clown, Artists with Career. He teaches the Clown course in the Circus and Street Arts Training Program at CENART and directs the shows of his clown students "Against the wind and tide", "Children's Game" and "Who dropped my feather duster" , at the CNA Theater of the Arts, the Arts Forum and the CNA Black Box forum. She presents “Sueños de Pimpolina” on Spring Night in the city's main square. In 2009 she published “The clown’s poetics. Her inner universe ”, in which she makes a deep reflection on the art of the clown, the circus and its symbols. She premieres the circus show Divertimento, in the Cirko Demente tent.

She was selected in the 2012 INBA Call for Theater Programming with her pantomime and clown show “Delirium Pollum” directed by Canadian Gervais Gaudreault. She performed with great success at the Chimeras International Festival, before more than three thousand spectators who at the end of her performance bid her farewell with an ovation. 2013 she created and directed the First Edition of the International Festival of Laughter, at CENART, attended by 11,000 spectators. She created and directed the interactive event TORNEO DE LA RISA (CNA). 2014 she directed the Clown Gala, at the Julio Castillo Theater, to a full house. In 2015 she got selected for the benefit of EFITEATRO 2015 with her show DELIRIUM POLLUM. 2016 season of Delirium Pollum at the National Circulation Tour and Orientation Theater with an attendance of 23,000 spectators in total. She got selected in the Program for the Promotion of Cultural Projects and Co-investments with her project 4th INTERNATIONAL LAUGH FESTIVAL. She again obtained the benefit of EFITEATRO 2017 to continue the National Circulation Tour with Delirium Pollum. 2018 National tour in the Northern Border with Delirium Pollum. 2019 she celebrated the 40th anniversary of Pimpolina on stage, Orientación Theater.

AWARDS AND HONOURS
• In 1984, Prize for the best children's work, awarded by the Union of Critics and Chroniclers of Mexico, with the show Diario de un viaje en sombrero.
• In 1997, National Pantomime Prize, awarded by OMIM, INBA, ITI UNESCO and UNAM, with her show SUEÑOS DE PIMPOLINA.
